new couch

this new coppola sofa from cheeky pea (which is out for stumblebum this round.. but more on that later!) is sooooo cute. as often as bff vivi && i switch bits ‘n’ bobs of furniture out of the other living room, this sitting area in our house has been relatively untouched once we finished decorating it… last summer. but when i saw this couch, and this pretty minty green color it comes in.. along with the coffee table && decorations… i knew our sitting room needed a new place.. to.. well… sit.

plus the animations in said couch are *adorable* (single, couple and friend poses) && it comes with its own set of rezzable props as well, including the laptop you see above (and, i mean, this pose is called blogging… how could i *not* photograph it?!). really nicely made.. and it’s on sale, too!

some other goodies in this round of stumblebum include the ruffly cropped top i’m wearing here in the prettiest shade of lavender, from aura.. which is, quite frankly, summer-in-a-top. it’s mesh and fit me with minimal adjusting… and is both sexy and girly all wrapped into one. ❤❤

the light pink lipgloss && *gorgeous* eyes from insufferable dastard, also out for stumblebum. i have, literally, about 39248348 pairs of aqua, teal && blue eyes (my own preferred colors for eyes), but i can really appreciate when someone can take blue eyes.. and actually make ’em *different*. these eyes are rimmed around the pupil with a gradation of yellow && pink that fade so nicely into an almost mint-tinted blue. they come in varying color-intensities as well (i’m wearing the medium shade here, so there’s one brighter and one darker included) *and* you get several lipgloss tattoo layers along with the eyes.

aaaaand! *all* of the poses in my photographs today are stumblebum offerings, too. it’s a good round this time, no joke! i’m sure i could ramble on && on about the other items out for stumble that i’m not featuring here, just ’cause everything is so awesome this go ’round, but i do have a new couch to break in, after all..

my (not so) peaceful morning

waking up early in the morning usually isn’t my thing. i’m more of a *night owl* myself && would much prefer to keep the sleeping schedule of a vampire rather than wake up at ungodly hours in the morning. but when i do get to sleep at a decent time and wake up bright ‘n’ early, i realize that mornings aren’t so bad after all…

a nice hot shower, a cup of fresh coffee.. and a few moments to myself to enjoy the quiet really is a lovely thing. there are birds singing, waves rolling in on the beach just outside my window, && the soft glow of sunrise just barely peeking in the windows. it’s the epitome of serene.

or, well, it can be the epitome of serene… at least while sleeping beauty there stays in bed. luckily for me, lars will allow me to have a big whopping half hour to myself while he smacks the snooze button && gets in a few more winks.. so i can shower, dry my hair, and have a cup of coffee before he drags himself out of bed.

but, to be fair, i *do* get some extra quiet time while he’s in the bathroom too. it’s funny how routines get started, and how they always seem to work like clockwork, because i can always get partially dressed && fiddle with my hair and makeup a li’l bit before he’s out of the shower. by the time i’m grabbing my shoes, he’s usually all squeaky clean.

and then suddenly, my peaceful morning is not quite so peaceful anymore.

take this morning, for example. i’m stepping into my heels, feeling deliciously sexy in my new lingerie, and in comes lars from the bathroom…

“hey vix, lookit this! no hands!”

…how charming.

i tell him that must take *so* much talent to do… but because it is just a li’l annoying (and distracting), he finds it to be the most hilarious thing ever. i’m trying to figure out what i wanna wear for the day, and good ole lars takes it upon himself to cackle insanely && *dance around* the bedroom with his … towel.

i can’t brush my hair, or even get to my vanity without him poppin’ up (no pun intended) next to me to wiggle the .. towel .. at me. i try to pretend i don’t care, that it doesn’t bother me, but he somehow knows it really does && it only fuels the fire that much more.

i mean, just *look* at him. he is obnoxiousness personified! stark naked save for that blasted simpsons towel, laughing and doing what can only be described as the worst dance in all of humanity… and he is having a blast while i just wanna put my clothes on, damnit!!

so in my infinite wisdom, i decide to think.. and think fast. what, exactly, would give me my beautifully peaceful morning back? what could i possibly do to distract lars in return, so i can finally finish getting ready? tell a white lie and say i made breakfast downstairs and when he leaves the bedroom, close && lock the door? ask him to get me another coffee refill and when he leaves the bedroom… close && lock the door? grab my own towel and whip his bare, annoying ass with it so he goes running out of the bedroom like a li’l wuss, then close && lock the door??

hmm..

…or i could forget getting fully dressed, for just a while, and take him back to bed. which, to be perfectly honest, did not make my morning any more *peaceful*… but certainly more… ahem… fulfilling.

work spaces

sometimes, i wish it was as easy in rl as it is in sl to drag everything outside && work in the sunshine..

..i swear i’d be much more productive if i could work with an ocean view!

this set of table && chairs from cheeky pea, which is out for this round of stumblebum (and there’s still a few days left to take advantage of the sale!) was perfect to migrate outside.. absolutely *everything* i’d ever need is included with it. four chairs, should i feel like having some company out on our patio, a pot of tea, cellphone, notebooks, pencils, laptop, potted plant.. even bottles of nail polish, if i feel like givin’ myself a new manicure.. and it’s all on a rezzer so you can have all of it, a li’l of it, or none of the tabletop clutter depending on your preferences! \o/

plus the upholstery on the chairs are texture-change && each seat has a different set of poses inside… which correspond to the items rezzed on the table in front of each seat. so much detail in this set, i’m pretty much in love with it~

so since the table was more of the *focus*, and since there’s so much packed in on the table top, i decided to dress more simply for my look for today. and it all centers around this sweater && skirt *mesh* set from tres blah out @ collabor88. i loved this color combo of pale pink, dark brown && olive green.. and the entire ensemble is wonderfully textured. simple but cute, and so easy to pair with some knee socks from fri.day && a pair of boots (and a mesh hairstyle!) from elikatira.

i dunno about you, but i work *so* much better when i’m relaxed.. and there is very little on earth (or in the virtual world!) that’s more relaxing than having the ocean just a few feet away. warm breeze, the smell of salt in the air, and the rhythmic crashing of waves… ahh… just as conducive to working peacefully as it is to lounging with the sun on your face!

vixxie vs the painting

so… as you know (or, as you should know if you read my blog! ;p).. bff vivi && i share a house on a beachy parcel of land. we’ve had it *almost* a year now, we moved there last summer, and she and i have been pretty good roommates thus far. i mean, she’s my bestie.. who would make a better roommate than her?

we share a lot of the “responsibilities” of having a house.. and that includes splitting the decorating between both of our tastes. thankfully, our preferences mesh pretty well together && we often love the same sort of decor.. so it’s usually not a problem.

or at least, it *wasn’t* a problem. until today.

enter… the painting. i walk into our living room today && it’s right there, in my face. this thing is easily twice my height, takes up the *entire* back wall, and is so bright and…. odd… that i actually stood there for a moment, trying to take it all in.

needless to say, my initial reaction was not great.

now, this living room (and i say this living room.. because we actually have *two* living rooms, currently) has been bright && colorful for a while now. vivienne and i are always switching things in and out (case in point, see this post where the couch is pink, not blue, and the rugs are different!) and rearranging items just to… change things up a bit.

however, the bff.. actually removed one of my paintings && moved a plant and a lamp out of the way, just to make room for this painting. this huge, blinding, strange ass painting.

but she’s my friend, so i figured i’d… try to give it a chance. and i thought since it was so colorful, i’d try to pose in front of it for some *normal* bloggity pics.. just to see if it made a decent backdrop.

and, admittedly, it *did* make a nice background. lots of color, lots of shapes, && the purple in the painting brought out the purple in the mesh pants i’m wearing (that, btw, are from epic out @ fashion for life — and it’s a donation item!!). it was interesting in the background, i *liked* how it looked behind me.

so i figured, what the hey…

…it can stay. i won’t return it to her, no matter how awful my first reaction to it was. she liked it, and it is half her home too, so i resigned myself to accepting the fact that the painting is staying. at least for now, or until we decide to empty the room and completely redecorate it — which happens rather often…. and can’t come again soon enough.

the cuter side of zombies

the 6th edition of the zombie popcorn hunt kicked off on the first of the month.. and bff vivi && i have been slowly grabbin’ goodies from our favorite stores in the last few days. it’s been rather nice to wander into some of my fave places to peep new releases and then stumble upon a hunt prize in the process. it’s always awesome when my usual stores offer freebies!

but while typically, my favorite items in the zombie popcorn hunts have always been the gory.. the bloody… the dead && the decaying, this round.. there was a surprising amount of *cute* included. so vivienne && i decided to show off some of the more adorable things we snagged on this hunt rather than the bits more befitting of the hunt’s name. ;D

the looks we put together, and even in the bit o’ redecoration of our living room, use lots of freebies courtesy of the hunt. the full list of stores, slurls && hints can be found right here if you’d like to see the rest of the participating brands.. ’cause while we’ve included a bunch here, there are even *more* prizes we didn’t show off. this hunt is always awesome — the prizes are never too terribly hard to find, the loot you get is always generous, and there was a nice mixture of my favorite stores && places unknown to me on the list.

as far as what vivienne && i are wearing…

my hunt goodies include the top from koketka, the valentine’s day inspired suspenders from rezipsa loc, the pretty lavender-jeweled necklace from concrete flowers, the baby blue ‘n’ pink ballet flats from severed garden, the vibrant purple eyeshadow from kosh, the knuckle-wide rings from pididdle, the purple and green nails from virtual insanity && the gorgeous peach-colored *mesh* eyes from mayfly.

all the super cute phone-photo poses we’re using here are hunt prizes too, from what next!

but… well. this week, up until vday, is supposed to be nothin’ but lingerie… so i couldn’t resist snappin’ two more photos. one, of the hunt prize undies from damned that we both grabbed (as well as the tattoo you can see below that was hidden by vivi’s sweater, from vestigium, which is *also* a hunt gift!) so vivienne and i would still be participating in the 12 days of lingerie challenge, and two… of the home decor items we picked up while on the hunt too, cause having some li’l valentine-related decorations for *free* is just as nice as dressing yourself in an entire new outfit with just hunt goodies!

for funsies

sometimes, it’s good to do a look just for fun. not.. that i don’t *always* have fun with the looks i do for my blog, ’cause believe me i do. but there are times when i just wanna… throw on something supremely colorful && run around on a candyland-esque sim merely because i feel like it.

and sometimes, it’s even more fun to drag a friend into it, too.

i love that bff vivi humors my whims. ❤❤

she && i have taken some epic pics in the past (just in my humble opinion, ahahah) but these i took of us together are probs some of my favorites. the looks we put together, both centered around some goodies we snagged from blah, are so *cute* and so *colorful* that it was hard to pick just a few snapshots to show off.

the sim we were on was the perfect back drop, there were teacups and gumdrops and lollipops and donuts scattered all over the soft pink-icing mountains. and the spot i chose to take the majority of our pictures, by the water, had two candy-colored tentacles (one in blue && one in pink) snaking up out of the surface and one large cupcake hanging off the side of a cliff. how awesome is that?!

plus the dress vivienne is wearing, and the cropped top && body suit i’ve got on, are all from blah and made it very very easy to dress insanely bright and adorable. the colors in vivi’s dress remind me of a sunset, pink && orange look so nice together when they’re that vibrant and saturated, and mine…. well. both pieces i’m wearing from blah were *free* for group members (the dark blue body suit is a vip group gift && the ridiculously cute li’l raccoon tee is in a group-only lucky board!), which makes me love this look that much more.

it’s good times, lemme tell ya, to run around on a pink frosting mountain in bright colors with your best friend. the fact that we took some nice snapshots in the process, i suppose, is just an added bonus!

stumblebum

in case you haven’t heard… stumblebum is *back*! \o/ i was so excited to see this event come back && to see that it include some of my favorite designers, too. every other week there will be a new color palette theme and a new set of designers from the list participating (and what a list it is! you can peep *all* the listed designers here).. along with a guest or two in the mix as well. and the items for new stumblebum && the new year did *not* disappoint!

the colors for this round were silvers and grays and teal.. and i gotta say, i am loving the palette. i just don’t wear enough teal in world, even if it’s def one of my favorite colors, so i had an excuse to cover myself head-to-toe in new turquoise hues!

in this look, i’m wearing several of the items out for stumblebum.. the pom-pom pigtail hair is from truth (and is discounted 50L per color pack, making it 200L each color.. so worth snaggin’ while the sale is going on!), the minty sequin dress is from illusory, the over-the-shoulder bag is from toki-doki, the gorgeously large earrings are from aura (and are mesh!), the eyes are from insufferable dastard && the open-arm pose i used in the first pic is part of the set out @ frooti.

fifty linden fridays are coming to an end! ;__; it makes me so bummed, i *love* these weekly sales. i’ve gotten some amaaazing deals from flf && have discovered brands i otherwise might not have. it’s something i’ve always looked forward to, so i am def sad to see it go.

but at least… it went out with a bang, forreals.

there are more stores included in this week’s flf than i think i’ve ever seen && these 50L bargains are so, so awesome. hair, shoes, accessories, tattoos, poses, furniture, skins.. i don’t think there’s a category not covered in this sale. it is *so* worth checking out, if for no other reason than to give flf one last hurrah!

i’ve packed on a lot of the 50L goodies for this look.. to try && give you an idea of the variety goin’ on: the hair i’m wearing is from clawtooth, the boots i’m wearing are from fir & mna, the mesh purse from maitreya (and there’s a pair of their new alexa wedges in brown for 50L too!), the cardi from fri.day (you get *three* colors for the price!), the tank from whippet & buck that’s actually part of a *50L fatpack*, the tattoo from the habitat, && the eyes and armwarmers and smudged black eyeshadow are from the plastik (these items as well — there’s three color choices and each pack comes with shoes, boots, skins, makeups, dresses, eyes.. omgaaaaahhh! if you only get one thing from flf this last week, get *this* from plastik!!!).

santa’s li’l helpers

it’s the day before christmas eve && i am *sure* santa could use all the help he can get! it’s probably hectic up there at the north pole with all the elves runnin’ around, trying to get absolutely everything done before the big day. do you think he’d let bff vivi && i help out?

we’re obviously christmas-ready and willing to help in any way we can! i mean, nothing says “i’m here to help~” like fluffy white fur, short skirts && red panties… amirite? ;p

and lucky for us, there are a lot of christmasy freebies on the grid this year.. y’know.. to aid in makin’ us feel festive. vivienne && i are wearing a bunch of freebies from various stores in both of our holiday looks, in case you’re needin’ a xmas-outfit-on-a-budget.

the short dress && hat with horns that vivi is wearing are both group gifts from epic. i always rave about the items from epic because they’re *always* nicely made && adorable, but joining the vip group is totes worth the fee. there’s a bunch of gifties for group members under the tree in the front of the store, vivi’s outfit included, and will pretty much dress you head-to-toe in christmas goodness in no time flat!

another good group to join is the group for vinyl cafe. the fee to join is tiny && the group gifts are frequent and generous. the boots i’m wearing here are a past group gift, that actually came with a bolero, dress && ear muffs as well. the *mesh* santa hat i’ve got on is a past group gift from insufferable dastard — yet another group with plentiful monthly gifts. the set of hats came in a bunch of colors, and each color came in plain, striped && patterned versions, and since it’s mesh.. means it fit perfectly right out of my inventory! another freebie i’m wearing, the holiday light string ’round my neck, is a hunt prize from blah. it comes with a couple static poses and isn’t so much a necklace of lights as it is a .. noose… of lights. but! it’s fitting for the time of year, at least? xD

oh, and the nose ring i’ve got on? *also* a freebie! it’s a hunt prize from hod so you know how excited it makes me. it’s not exactly super christmasy, but it’s freeeeee and it’s hod. you should go snag it while you can, because i said so.

*and!* there’s lots of holiday cheapies && full outfits out at sakide, which is where my panties and jacket set is from, and they’re all conveniently located in one building outside the main store. my outfit actually comes with a lot more pieces than just the two i’ve got on and there’s a ton of other christmas-y bits and pieces out at sakide. there are more costume-type outfits, or just cute separates that are fitting for the holiday in decoration or in color, and for the price you pay… it’s like one-stop shopping for holiday attire~

so there’s no excuse not to look festive if you’re celebrating christmas this year! freebies, cheapies && gifts galore out there on the grid. and who knows, the more christmasy you look.. perhaps santa will let you help him out, too! ;D
