virtual closet

keeping my virtual closet tamed is an arduous task. there are so many talented content creators out there on the grid these days that trying to limit myself seems… almost foolish. there’s too many awesome things out there to wear and to see and to *hoard* in my inventory, that calling myself a shopaholic..

..is really an understatement.

if you remember not so long ago, i took on the job of organizing my inventory. at the time, in january, i’d whittled my inventory number down to a mere 21k. and it was *awesome*. i could easily find things, i had everything sorted in folders && subfolders, and i didn’t have the unnecessary clutter of older, unused items hanging around. they were boxed up or deleted and it was a beautiful thing!

i kept up with it for quite some time — making sure i immediately unboxed everything i bought && then organized it down into my inventory appropriately. i kept a folder of things i wanted to blog separate and, once i had blogged it, i moved it down into the rest of my inventory. but unfortunately…. the habit didn’t last.

a few “meh, i’ll do it later” excuses and suddenly… my inventory was out of control. my number steadily increased while the organization decreased. things piled up in my objects folder, everything was in disarray, and it was *really* hard to find items unless i searched for them by name. the longer i put it off, the worse it got, until it.. again… was a large task to undertake.

but! after getting completely tired of losing track of my stuff, i put on my big girl pants and tucked in to reorganizing. my inventory is, once more, a beautiful thing!

while doing these clean-outs, i’ve discovered things (or re-discovered them, i suppose, is more accurate) i’d completely forgotten i had. like this panda necklace, for instance, from izzie’s.. i couldn’t tell you when i bought it, but it’s *adorable*. and i’m sad it got lost in the depths of my wardrobe for so long!

and older purchases are not the only things i found… this hooded jacket, from pumpkin, is a more recent acquisition. and i love it. i live in hoodies in my real life, and i could not say no to this pretty pink color, but. when i grabbed it, it quickly sunk into the mass of other folders and other items i’d bought and even though it was not long ago at *all*.. i totally forgot about it. but since my inventory is back in order, i found it && have been happily wearing it around in world for the last couple of days.

i even went so far as to make sure i organized things i bought in bulk. there is a sale going on right now @ elikatira where *everything* is an amazing 70% off. believe me, i went and splurged on *tons* of stuff — hair i’ve had my eye on, styles i already own but in different colors, shooooooes(!) — and as soon as a teleported back home? i made sure i opened things up and dragged them into their correct folders. because styles like the one i’m wearing here are far too cute to leave to the bottomless pit, right?

so! if you’ve been putting off organizing your own inventory like i was, let me kindly remind you to start now! i promise you’ll thank me later~
