midnight sled ride

you ever have so much candy that you almost go out of your mind? you’ve got more sugar pumping through your veins than you have blood && you’re ridin’ a sugar rush so potent, it feels like if you were any more hyper.. you’d be a hummingbird?

no? just me && bff vivi then?

a li’l christmas candy never hurt anybody, but maaaaaybe when your candy canes are as.. *large*.. as the ones vivi && i had.. well. perhaps a bit of moderation would have gone pretty far. but we both love peppermint and even though we already had sweets *before* we even dug into the candy canes, they were just far too tasty for their own good.

so after we polished off our peppermint… we got some ideas. some crazy, sugar-rush-induced ideas.

..like, wouldn’t it be fun to take a ride on our sled in the middle of the night? off of the biggest, bumpiest, most tree-covered hill we could possibly find? hells yeah!!

our eyes were filled with determination as we stared down that hill. i was to give vivienne a running start to help the sled pick up momentum more quickly, then hop on the back just as the sled started down that hill..

and we were off!!

it felt like we were going about a million miles per hour down that hill. trees, rocks, snow-covered ground.. all of it went past my eyes in a blur. it was absolutely thrilling && in the process, after going over a few rather large bumps, vivi and i both lost the last bits of candy we were snackin’ on. but it didn’t even matter! the ride started off fast and exciting, we were practically flying down the hill on our sled! she && i were screaming and laughing and decided to treat it like a roller coaster ride — hands up and everything!

but as our small wooden sled rounded a corner..

…we realized why there weren’t more people taking advantage of our sweet sledding hill.

as soon as the tip of our sled tipped over the edge of that drop, vivi && i knew what was coming. the hill, as it turned out, took a rather sharp dive straight down… and it was far enough down the hill that we couldn’t see the drop off from the top through the trees. we were going far too fast to stop the sled, the only thing we could do was scream (or in my case, try not to cry!) && ride it out and hope for the best.

we finally landed in a snow drift towards the bottom of the hill, it was the only thing that could stop our sled. vivi went flying face-first into the snow, but i tried to dive off to the side… and ended up rolling the rest of the way down the hill. we didn’t get hurt too badly (vivi had a nose full of snow, while i just ended up with twigs and li’l pebbles stuck in my hair), but we were scared shitless.

let our adventure be a lesson to you! no matter how super awesome && amazing an idea sounds to you when your mind is clouded with obscene amounts of sugar… don’t do it!! you’ll end up having your slife flash before your eyes, develop an irrational fear of sleds && probably pee your pants in fear in the process. ….. *ahem*
