so vivienne && i took this opportunity to dress in some gorgeous kimonos and have a blast playing around in… my linden home, surprisingly enough. who knew it would *finally* come in handy?

we’re both wearing *beautiful* kimonos from sweetaholic — which is a place i’ve been wanting to ravage since i stumbled upon it (while trying to get to grasp the first time, ahahaha :X). i’ve never really *needed* a kimono until now, but i am so sorry i didn’t cave in && indulge myself sooner. the shorter one i picked, which is better suited for summer than in the dead of winter, is just so adorable. and the one vivi has on, with its rich royal blue && purple, is stunning.

both of our kimonos came with sandals (called geta) && matching paper fans, but i decided to use this parasol (and corresponding poses) from magnifique, while vivi is actually wearing one of the three *group gift* fans from sweetaholic. our hair pieces are from sweetaholic too, mine was a separate purchase but vivi’s came *with* her kimono!

but enough about our clothes… the real point of this post..

as i said, i was doing the cafe hunt, and stumbled into a li’l store called poche. and oh my gooooooosh not only is the store insanely cute, but the items there were too! lots of nibbles all over the place, including several freebies (there’s a few scattered about the store, and a lucky board, as well as the hunt prize.. and if you go outside on the balcony and behind the main building.. there are even *more* freebies there too!) and all of it is nicely detailed && so fun to set scenes with!

so fun, in fact, that vivienne && i set ourselves a three course meal that’s bursting with food i had in my rl right about now. *O*

the biggest one was to pair down my inventory to a more manageable size. i started out strong, right after new year’s, and went about boxing && deleting quite a lot of stuff. but as the days went by, my enthusiasm waned…. until earlier this week.

i started with right around 50k items in my inventory. honestly? not as bad as it could have been. i’ve always been sorta good at keeping things organized and tossing/boxing what i didn’t think i’d use. but in the last few months, my organization went to shit && it was just getting overwhelming. and i knew that i could get my inventory size down by half, i was determined to do it, ’cause even though at some point i loved every last one of those 50,000 items… there’s no way i need *that* much now that most of those items are older.

AND I DID IT!! my current inventory count is…. *drum roll* …. 21k. that’s more than half gone!! i haven’t had an inventory around 20-ish-k for a looooooooong time. this makes me so super excited!

cue the music && pardon me while i hop on my coffee table to do a victory dance!

inventory sorting && purging is, really, a taxing task. and it can be so bewildering when you first start out. luckily, i’ve been sort of.. anal… about keeping things in folders and subfolders for a while now so i didn’t have to worry about organizing so much… other than sorting through my most recent acquisitions. but since i got my inventory number down, i know you can do it (yeah, *you*!).. so i can offer some advice!

1. get your favorite music playing. having it in the background will give you a bit of a distraction && will really help with how monotonous sorting and organizing can be. open itunes, make a playlist on youtube, use pandora or spotify… it srsly helps!

2. strip down and try *everything* on as you go. yeah, i’m sure if my neighbors were caming me… they would’ve been rather amused at a naked, bald, tattoo-less vixxie standing on a pose stand and changing from one shirt.. to another shirt… to another shirt… over and over again. but this is a big help too for several reasons. if it’s an item you’ve had for a while, but haven’t worn in a bit, you might remember it being nicer than it *actually* is (case in point, i had several pairs of jeans from a now-closed store that i wore out a couple years ago. i fully intended on keeping these because i remembered loving them so much… until i tried them on. they really paled in comparison to the more recent jeans i have and thus, the older pants were easy to toss). trying things on as you go will also help you organize (see the point below!) && if the items aren’t named in the most descriptive way, you’ll be able to easily see what they are.

plus, it’s much easier to make a judgement on whether you want something or not by seeing it on!

3. if you don’t already have your inventory sorted into folders, start *right now* while you’re trying to pair down! believe me, it makes things so much easier in the long run — making an outfit is so simple when you can hop from one folder to the next instead of trying to search through everything for what you want. i did very basic folders at first — pants, tops, sneakers, heels, piercings, tattoos, etc. then, once everything was sorted into those folders, i made more specific subfolders inside the basic folders — by brand for large folders (like tattoos for instance, of which i have about a billion, are sorted by brand this way) or by type for more broad categories (my jewelry folder for example is subdivided into smaller folders for necklaces, earrings, rings, and so on).

since you’re already trying everything on as you go (riiiiight? ), sorting into separate folders on top of it really isn’t that tough!

4. have two inventory windows open. it makes moving folders of items up and down through your inventory a lot easier.

5. take frequent breaks!!!! i didn’t do it all in one sitting, or even all in one week, and it can easily become even *more* overwhelming if you try to do it all in one go. my inventory wasn’t even that large to begin with, so if your number is substantially higher than my starting point was… yeah… definitely make sure you take a break from it! do one category at a time — start with, say, pants.. once those are done, do something else for a bit, then come back to sorting. doing it this way will help you from feeling discouraged when it seems like you’re not even making a dent after being at it for hours at a time!

6. landmarks && notecards — hidden *huge* numbers! i had sooooo many duplicate LMs and all those subscribo-notice notecards in my inventory it was ridiculous. my total number went down, literally, 2k after i got rid of every single notecard i didn’t need && went through my landmarks and deleted outdated/duplicate ones. using the inventory filters is great for this — set your filter to only show landmarks, then sort by name.. and you’ll be able to easily see LM dupes. you’ll also be able to see those LMs that sneak by in folders when you purchase something new!

demos too, if you hang onto them (or forget you even have them), then searching for “demo” in your inventory might reveal some just sitting there taking up space!

7. extra clothing layers. now that we can wear multiple undershirts, jackets, pants, etc layers at once… having, say, a t-shirt on a thousand different layers really isn’t needed. i appreciate the content creators out there that do this, that make their products on every layer available for easier mixin’ && matchin’, but when it comes down to it… i just don’t need them all. for example, take a tattoo. from para designs, you usually get a black version of the ink in light, medium, and dark intensities. then you get the same tattoo in color in the same three versions. when you have *all* of those on every possible layer — jacket, shirt, undershirt, pants, underpants, glove and tattoo — the numbers really start to add up. since i only ever wear them on the undershirt/underpants layer, or glove layer if it’s needed (since my actual tattoo layer is never used for tattoos xD and is normally used for nothing but makeup!), i got rid of every other layer i didn’t need. this added up to a lot of unnecessary clutter gone from my inventory!

8. double-check your trash before you empty it. …yeah, i may have derp’d && deleted something i honestly didn’t mean to. eh heh. :X

8b. …but when you *do* empty your trash, keep an eye on the numbers && watch ‘em fall! there is nothing more satisfying than emptying your trash, knowing everything in there is something you don’t need or want anymore, and seeing your inventory number go down by several thousand. it’s a lovely feeling!

such a lovely feeling that you, too, could be dancing with me on my coffee table.. with a freshly sorted, organized, and smaller inventory. woohoo! \o/ good luck if you go for it!

so here’s *my* top ten picks for jewelry in sl.. most of which just so happened to be necklaces. x3 but while gogo decided to simply let the jewelry shine on it’s own, i on the other hand… am far too vain not to put myself in a set of photos to blog. bwahahah~

my favorites have a bit of an edge to them. don’t get me wrong, i enjoy the girly-girly diamonds && platinum sort of bling every now and then.. but that’s just not *me* most of the time. the pieces below, however, are *me* and i am sure they will be no surprise to anyone whose seen my blog more than once~

haus of darcy… is this really a surprise? ahaha! aydan‘s jewelry is just *gorgeousness*. there hasn’t been a set released as of yet that i’ve not instantly fallen in love with. i love the textures, how unique each && every piece is, and that each one seems to be tailor-made for my personal taste. rosaries are fairly easy to find in sl if you know where to look, but hod always has that one thing extra to really make their jewelry stand out from the rest. these are, by far, my go-to pieces when i need a necklace (or some body jewelry, which i am equally as fond of!) && will always hold a special place in my inventory for how much i love them.

mandala.. another one i love for how unique the jewelry pieces are. the sets i own from here are so intricately designed && packed with detail. the pieces i like from mandala are always large, statement kind of sets that practically drown my avatar in loveliness. i adore the way these pieces are constructed — there’s always lots goin’ on but it’s never *too* much — and for how realistic they look both in pictures && in world. i’ve never been disappointed in anything from mandala.. they are some of the nicest jewelers on the grid~

and.. last, but certainly not least (’cause these are totes in no particular order!), is amorous. i’ve featured this jewelry brand a lot lately here on my blog && even though it’s still fairly new-to-me, it’s taken a top spot in my list of favorites for jewels. they are so customizable, almost every set i own comes with *at least* a couple different textures for each part of the piece, and the detail on these as well are always superb. these claws i’ve blogged in the past are definitely up there too in my fave pieces from this brand, but the cross necklace i chose to showcase here is by far my top pick from their collection.

so! jewelry today! …and very little else. i enjoyed this challenge, not only because it gave me an excuse to go topless.. just to show off the jewelry of course!!.. but also because i’m really, really proud of how these pictures turned out. i’m wearing some awesome jewelry, though, so i guess it would’ve been kiiiiinda hard to mess it up~

the one thing i’ve been needing an excuse to buy is the runway pose prop.. and the fact that the store is closing was definitely a reason to pick it up. so bff vivi && i (along with a very small audience!) decided to play around on it while showing off some of our cutest lingerie… in a vixxie’s secret kind of “runway show”, complete with a set each of the *new* sparkly fairy wings from epic… which made us totally look the part!

i’m wearing a set of the *new* zicke lingerie from onyx wear.. which is soo cute && yet seriously sexy. super bright colors, lotsa different patterns to choose from, and some extra girly touches with the lace and bows made these an insta-fave for me. frank windlow does sexy pretty damn well, so it’s no surprise that these undies are hot.

vivienne on the other hand is wearing some adorable lingerie from blah.. there is no denying that blah does cute like none other, and the li’l wide-eyed owls are insanely kawaii. the cut on the panties is so flattering, with enough of a peek of the tushie to still be sexy too!

it was a lot of fun posing on the runway, with our friends braden && allarik who seemed all too eager to volunteer as the captivated audience (wonder why!), but i honestly think vivienne and i took it a bit too seriously.

after our first pass in one set of undies each, she && i hopped off the catwalk to change into a second set. but we got a little… catty while “backstage”, which i guess is par for the course when it comes to lingerie models, and when i took a bit too much time changing… vivi, i think, was kind of annoyed with me. and in turn, i got annoyed with her right back..

so when i stepped back out onto the runway and immediately slipped….

..i instantly thought it was vivi that pushed me.

we exchanged some angrily whispered words as we passed each other, pausing to pose for our audience and casting irritated glances at one another, and when we both stopped to strike a fierce pose at the end of the runway, vivi got a li’l.. handsy.

i may not be showing it there in my face, because clearly i am *such* a professional, but as vivi closed in to try && shove me off the end of the platform… by this point, i was seething. seething! she was trying to ruin my runway show!! i had to do something.

i mean, i was sure she was the reason why i slipped (even though now that i look back at the snaps, you can totes see she had nothing to do with it!), she then tried to push me in an epic pose battle at the end of the catwalk… my only recourse was to…

*ahem*

..was to give a member of our audience quite the scare.

it happens from time to time, even between bffs, to have a bit of a.. tiff. we just get too competitive sometimes, and it’s understandable. don’t worry, we got over it *mighty* quick && were back to bein’ bffles in no time… but for a little bit there, vivi and i were rivals on the runway. at least it made for an exciting show, i’m sure!

i took the sale opportunity to pick up some things i’ve been eyeballin’ but never got around to actually picking up. a few of truth‘s recent releases (and his *latest* releases are included in the sale too, one of which is the high ponytail style i’m wearing here!), a couple pairs of boots ‘n’ heels from gos, and a skin i’ve probably demo’d 947832734 times exactly from curio that the 50% off fatpack price tag finally convinced me to just give in and grab.

the jeans i’m wearing here are from the sale goodies at aura and i even picked up some new nails from je suis… all in all, i’d say it was a pretty awesome haul. i can never resist a good sale, and this one is no exception. i mean, it’s a sale at some of my *absolute* favorite stores… i gleefully said goodbye to the rest of my linden balance and filled my inventory with so much lovely new stuffs. ’tis a win, imho~

i’ve gotten some decent luck with gatchas as of late.. *knocks on wood* ..and have been getting colors i’ve wanted when trying the machines. this top from addict at the seasons gatcha winter event was a surprise when i won it in teal on my first try. as i’ve said in the past.. i just don’t wear enough teal in world. and honestly other than pink, it’s one of my favorite colors. so needless to say, i was quite pleased with this shade! and the fact that it’s really cute && nicely made just makes it even better! \o/

these *new* thermal leggings from tea time matched quite nice && i really like the contrasting gray color-blocking at the bottom. ❤ and i decided to accessorize with some black bits && pieces, wearing another gatcha item from teefy in this suuuper cute purse, a pair of tied up boots from death row designs && some lovely hod jewelry with both the piercings and the bracelet.

it’s def nicer than a slubby long-sleeved tee && sweatpants (which is totally what i’d *want* to be wearing on a cold day like this), but still *easy* enough that i’m happy to hop around the grid like this for the day. a messy ponytail, lazy boots, and an oversized sweater.. honestly, it doesn’t get more comfortable than that!

bff vivi && i have been poking around the gatcha machines since the event opened, trying our luck in getting items in our preferred colors… but by far, our favorite gatcha item (and the one that’s made the most of our lindens disappear) is the one set out by illusory.

between the two of us, we have the entire set just by feeding the machine over && over.. trying to get all the rare pink ones. the white bear scarf is super cute, as is the orange tiger version too, but the pink panda.. the pink panda. oh it is insanely cute!

i couldn’t help but make an outfit around this scarf… i mean, i may have squealed out loud when the gatcha gods smiled upon me && i *finally* won it. just look at its li’l ears.. and its li’l eyes.. i am in love with it. ❤❤❤

so i dressed to suit the scarf, with a white dress (that i’m wearing as a long-sleeved tee here) from sakide && some gorgeous mesh pants i’ve been meaning to blog from celoe. i was also lucky enough to win the *rare* bunny ear muffs from the gatcha by willow, which is another machine i fully intended on feeding lindens until i went broke trying to get the rare pair. i *did* get the owl pair as well (which look adorable with the brown bear illusory scarf, btw~) && i still want the skunk set too… but the rabbit-y muffs are adorable enough that i am appeased. … for now.

vivienne dressed to match her scarf as well — going all over black-and-white with some wellington boots from needful things, a furry keychain from love soul (which is still having their half off sale, just fyi!), && another gatcha-win necklace from undefined lilies. her panda might not be pink like mine is, but he is just as cute! i love the way these are textured — they really do look soft and fuzzy and warm. and for only *50L* a try, it’s soooo worth trying your luck for one (or a few *cough* like we did) just cause they are so. damned. adorable.

he just recently gave his entire avatar — ao, shape, skin, even hair color choice — a *complete* overhaul. of course, i helped him in his quest for a new look… but the majority of it was all him! absolutely everything is different about his look && while it’s taken a li’l getting used to tbh (i am *so* used to the way he’s always looked!), i’m really loving his new pixels.

he’s such a pretty thing, amirite? ;3

my guy friends, apparently, are *receptacles* for me && bff vivi to dump our gatcha extras on. both braden && my friend allarik asked us for a good place for cheapie, but nice, glasses (probably has nothing to do with the fact that i like a man in glasses, clearly ;p), so vivienne && i pelted both boys with the surplus glasses we have from the *dollarbie* gatcha @ epic. i am sure these specs were made with the ladies in mind, but they turned out to be delightfully unisex!

the li’l monkey mouthie braden is nomnomnomin’ on is also from the gatchas at epic — another gift from our collection of extras. and thankfully, he was a good sport about wearing it! ehehehe~

since braden decided he wanted to be all browns && khaki for his first appearance on my blog, i dressed to match him. s’always the boys, deciding the color scheme for blog posts with me, when it *totes* should be the other way around. bunch of divas i’m friends with, honest to god!

i’m wearing a pair of the *new* supah sexy knee-high boots from insanya with this look. the color i have on is called creme, but it’s actually a very nice warm brown. it matched the garters on these socks from league && the leather straps on the sweater i picked out to wear from yopulga — all of which tied together the varying shades of brown and beige i’ve got on. khaki isn’t a color i wear often in world, simply because tan just seems so bland, but when you mix in different textures && different shades.. it’s suddenly not so boring! ..and rather hot, too, considering how amazingly unfff these boots are.

so that’s *three* guy friends in total now that have posed for my blog with me. not bad, considering how picky they all seem to be. ;p thank you, braden, for snappin’ these pics with me! and yes, you were much better behaved during the shoot than arik was. kudos.
